Passing through the poverty stricken area of Gharibabad, you may find young ones roaming around in the streets. These children remain deprived of the basic necessities of life such as healthcare and education. Lack of healthcare makes them vulnerable to numerous diseases whereas insufficient education leaves their futures uncertain and gloomy.
Street to School-STS is a pioneer program of Open for Everyone (O4E) Welfare Organization and a winning project of Charter for Compassion Pakistan. Here, we strive to provide quality education and social awareness to these deprived communities, thereby strengthening their roles as individuals in the society. Our project includes a fully functional A Baby's Club-ABC, Montessori, and Kindergarten sections, each of which caters around 30 students. We conduct Basic Primary Classes (BPC) for older children who have crossed the age mark for acquiring basic education. We believe every individual must exercise his or her right to education without an age barrier.
While focusing on three critical areas of preschool education- reading, writing, and arithmetic- we encourage these children to participate in sports and recreational activities on a weekly basis. To promote greater health awareness, we conduct sessions on basic hygiene, sanitation and health issues. Often children are forced to become addicts or experience severe mental trauma. For this, we conduct counseling sessions in order to assist them through a recovery process. We, at STS, are committed to provide better educational and awareness opportunities thereby promoting social welfare and hope among these communities.
